Herbert Davies & Watkin Moses</person of Crosspenmain Monythusloyne Collier - of the Waterloo Colliery Monythusloyne
Collier states We together with Moses Watkin Moses
and John Davies have
were members of a Chartist
Lodge at the Ivy Bush at Crosspenmain
but the
last meeting was held on Saturday the 2nd November
at the May pole - old David Stephens was Chairman
He told us he wanted us to settle about having a
Governor over every 10 - & wishes every one to raise
his hand in favor of doing that - but I we & many
others were against it - there were from 30 to 40
present - He also said we should be called upon
soon - We asked " what to do" he said he was under
oath not to tell us - W We then went away & considered
the Lodge broken up - On the next Evening (Sunday)
about 7 Oclock (having heard during the day that
some thing was stirring) We went in company with
Watkin Moses &</del> John Davies to the Navigation Inn
to ascertain what was doing - We went into the
Club Room - there was no one there then but
our party - When we had been there half about 1/4 of an
hour (it was 1/4 past 7 by the Clock) Jones the
Watchmaker
came in with T 2 others - they
